🔥 1. The Snuffer Lid This is a compact, often lighter lid that sits close to the fire pit. Main Purpose Extinguish the fire quickly by cutting off oxygen (hence the term “snuffer”). Secure the fire pit after use to prevent embers from reigniting. Advantages Very effective for putting out the fire at the end of cooking. Smaller size: easy to handle and store. Can partially protect the fire bowl from rain. Limitations Usually does not cover the plancha plate, only the central fire pit. Does not fully protect the cooking surface. 🔥 2. The Large Lid This is a wide lid that covers the entire plancha surface, and often the fire pit as well. Main Purpose Protect the plancha and fire pit when not in use. Keeps the cooking plate clean, dry, and ready to use. Advantages Covers the whole unit: full protection from rain, dust, pollen, animals… Prevents rust on steel planchas (especially raw steel). Can sometimes be used to increase heat or create an oven effect (depending on the model). Limitations Heavier and more cumbersome. Not always designed to extinguish the fire (depends on ventilation).

No, the large lid cannot be used to extinguish the fire and is not heat‑resistant. It is designed to store and protect the fire pit when it is cold and not in use.

A retaining rim and support stops on the center of the plancha. Without them, the large lid will not stay in place — it will slide and may be blown off the fire pit more easily. Retention pegs in the center of the fire bowl. Without them, the snuffer lid may not stay properly positioned and could let air pass through, preventing the fire from being extinguished.

The large lid is very useful for protecting your fire pit when you’re not using it. Use a cover to preserve its color over time. The handle is made of wood and requires regular maintenance, and some users may find it necessary—visually—to replace it.
