Our professional-grade kamados don't need an extraneous latch to secure the lid. In a professional setting, a latch is superfluous. For robust, durable tools designed for intensive use (restaurants, chefs, caterers, outdoor demonstrations), a latch isn't a performance feature, but rather an aesthetic or consumer-friendly accessory.

The latch is unnecessary. The weight of the dome is sufficient: the lid of a ceramic kamado is heavy. This weight, combined with the fiberglass gasket, ensures: • a natural seal, • constant pressure, • and a firm hold without the need for a mechanical lock. The dome closes by gravity alone, and the gasket does all the insulation work.
