How to effectively protect the plancha of your COEO plancha brazier during winter?
In order to sustainably preserve the cooking performance and aesthetic appearance of your COEO Made in France plancha brazier, it is recommended to apply suitable protection when your equipment remains unused for several weeks, particularly during the winter months. Our protective wax, formulated from beeswax made in France, creates a natural barrier between the steel of the plancha and the external environment to limit the risks of oxidation and the appearance of rust.
Apply the wax on a still warm plancha
After using your wood-fired plancha brazier, allow the cooking plate to cool gradually until it is just warm to the touch. This temperature facilitates the application of the wax and allows for an even distribution across the entire cooking surface.
Completely cover your cooking plate
Using the wax block, generously apply the product in circular motions over the entire plancha. Be sure to protect both the cooking surface and the edges and corners of the plate, areas particularly exposed to moisture and external aggressions.
A natural protection against corrosion and rust
On contact with the slightly warm plancha, the wax deposits evenly and then gradually crystallises as it cools. A fine whitish protective film then appears on the surface of the steel.
Why use a protective wax for plancha brazier?
This protective layer acts as a natural shield that prevents air and moisture from coming into direct contact with the steel of the plancha. It thus contributes to:
- limiting the appearance of rust;
- protecting the cooking surface during winter storage;
- preserving the appearance of your plancha;
- facilitating the maintenance of your plancha brazier;
- extending the lifespan of your outdoor equipment.
Combine the wax with a brazier lid for maximum protection
Once the plancha is completely cooled and protected by the wax, we recommend placing the large COEO lid on your brazier. This double protection effectively shields your plancha from rain, condensation, dust, leaves, and bad weather throughout the year.
The ideal solution for winter storage of your plancha brazier
The combination of a natural protective wax and a quality lid is one of the best solutions to keep your high-end plancha brazier in perfect condition, even after several months of non-use.
How to put your brazier back into service after winter storage?
When you next light your plancha brazier, the wax will naturally melt under the heat. You will then just need to remove the excess with a spatula before you start cooking.
A natural wax made in France
